Ford Recall FAQs
What is a recall on a car?
A recall is issued when there is a confirmed safety-related issue for a specific model and year determined by the manufacturer or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Vehicle owners will then be notified to bring in their vehicle for the free repair. This notification is usually done by mail, or Ford vehicle owners can check their recall status Online.
Can I still drive my car after it's been recalled?
Depending on the severity of the issue, you may still be able to drive your vehicle safely, though this is not recommended. Your vehicle should still be safe to drive while getting a repair scheduled unless a "Do Not Drive" advisory has been issued for the recall. Check your recall notice for details, and for your safety, get a repair scheduled for the recall as soon as possible.
Are recall repairs free?
Yes, parts and service are free on Ford recalls at any authorized Ford dealer, including Proctor Ford.
How can I check my car recalls?
By using the Ford Recall Page or the Ford App, you can easily check for any recalls on your vehicle, all you need is the VIN number. And it's free!
What do I do if I paid for a repair later found to be a recall?
If you had repair work on your Ford that was later found to be a recall, you may be eligible for reimbursement. This is only if you paid to correct the concern addressed by a recall before the owner notification letter was mailed. All recall and Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) repairs must be completed by an authorized Ford Dealer and will be performed at no charge. Repairs not completed at a Ford Dealer are not eligible for reimbursement unless you paid for the repair before the recall announcement.
To receive a refund, you will need to submit the original repair receipts to Proctor Ford or any Ford Dealer in the U.S. Refund requests will not be processed until the recall has been completed by a Ford Dealer.
